Hartmut Skerbisch

Born 1945 in Ramsau am Dachstein, Hartmut lived and worked in Kalsdorf bei Ilz, East Styria, Austria. He studied Architecture at the Technical University in Graz. From 1969 he concentrated on spatial concepts and works including video, photography and sculptural elements and from 1989 he developed sculpture as exclusive spatial language.

Early works regarding the issue of close momentum-space of the electronic media led to the sculptural term ‘absolute confrontation’. The problem of the perception of artworks as well as of the physical foundations of sculpture define the present orientation.

Exhibiting since 1975 he has artworks and collections in Austria and abroad. Hartmut achieved the Fine Art Award of the City of Graz in 1993.

Died on April 3, 2009 in Graz, Austria
